Week 33 of pregnancy

What's Happening with Baby
Your baby is still gaining weight and growing rapidly, putting on about ½ pound per week as you get closer to your due date. Their heart beats very fast and strongly, and you might be surprised to learn that rhythmic breathing movements are beginning to be seen, although they are not yet breathing air.
Your baby now weighs about 4 1/3 pounds and measures 17 1/4 inches long (the size of a pineapple). To measure the frequency of your baby's movements and overall wellbeing, your doctor may recommend a test called a Biophysical Profile.

What You Might Experience
You can likely feel the top of your uterus just below your ribs. The fundus is high above your navel and is pushing on your other organs more and more. This can cause common third-trimester discomforts like shortness of breath, constipation, and indigestion as the baby crowds your lungs and stomach.
To help manage these symptoms, try eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day instead of three large ones.

Key Things to Keep in Mind
The closer you get to your due date, the more uncomfortable it may be for you to fall asleep. Anxiety, more frequent urination, heartburn, leg cramps, and general discomfort can all translate into poor sleep.
To help you relax, try listening to soft music, reading a relaxing book, or drinking a cup of sleep-inducing herbal tea before bed. And remember to continue to drink plenty of water and consume enough fiber to help avoid constipation.
