Week 31 of pregnancy

What's Happening with Baby
Your baby's brain is growing and developing quickly, making new and complex connections. Remarkably, their brain can now help control their own body heat. They can also perceive your voice and even your emotions, and their sense of taste continues to develop.
Your baby now weighs about 3 1/4 pounds and measures 16 1/4 inches long (the size of a coconut). On an ultrasound, you might see them sucking their fingers, opening and closing their mouth, and moving actively.

What You Might Experience
You are likely gaining about a pound (or over 500 grams) per week now, as your baby goes through a major growth spurt. As your abdomen enlarges, you may find that you lose your sense of balance and are more prone to falls.
This is a very common experience as your center of gravity shifts. Be careful as you move around!

Key Things to Keep in Mind
It's important to remember that your partner is adjusting, too. While you have become the center of everyone's attention, your partner is expected to support you and may be dealing with their own concerns about the upcoming changes. Keeping communication open is key.
This is also a great time to begin childbirth classes, if you have not already done so. They provide valuable information and can help you both feel more prepared.
