Week 20 of pregnancy

What's Happening with Baby
Congratulations, you've reached the halfway point of your pregnancy! Your baby's muscles are developing more, and as a result, they can turn their head, move, kick, and swallow. The fetal heartbeat is now strong enough that it can often be heard with a simple stethoscope.
Your baby is now about 10 inches long from head to heel (roughly the size of a banana) and weighs around 10 1/2 ounces. Tiny but important details are also being refined, as their nails are growing toward the ends of their fingers.

What You Might Experience
This week, you can likely feel your baby kicking hard and moving around, which is an exciting and reassuring experience. You may also notice a dark line forming between your belly button and lower stomach (this is called the linea nigra). Don't worry, this is a normal hormonal change and it will lighten up after delivery.
As your belly grows, your center of gravity shifts, which may cause your back to hurt. To help with this, try to wear low-heeled, supportive shoes and avoid standing for long periods. Gentle exercising may also help to strengthen your back muscles.

Key Things to Keep in Mind
It's important to continue being mindful of food safety. Be sure to avoid raw meat and contact with a cat's litter tray, as these are possible sources of toxoplasmosis, an infection that can be harmful to the baby.
Focus on eating a nutritious and healthy diet, making sure to avoid raw meat and fish. It's also essential to stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of juice, water, and milk each day to support both your own health and your baby's development.
