Week 22 of pregnancy

What's Happening with Baby
Your baby is becoming more proportional, with the head now representing less than a third of the total body length. They are settling into regular intervals of sleeping and waking up. Although their eyelids are still shut, their eyes are moving behind them. Tiny tear ducts are developing, and faint eyebrows may begin to appear.
Your baby is now about 11 inches long (roughly the size of a spaghetti squash) and weighs around 15 ounces. Their hearing is well-developed, and you might notice them move suddenly when they hear a loud sound from the outside world.

What You Might Experience
As your blood volume continues to increase to support the pregnancy, some women may be diagnosed with anemia, which is caused by a decline in the concentration of hemoglobin. Your doctor will monitor this and advise you if you need to take an iron supplement.
Heartburn can also be a common symptom. To help relieve the discomfort, try eating four to five small meals throughout the day instead of three large ones.

Key Things to Keep in Mind
It is very important that you do not take any over-the-counter medications, such as laxatives or antacids, without getting your doctor's permission first. They can advise you on what is safe to use during pregnancy.
This can also be a fun time to start planning. You can begin to make a list of all the things your baby will need and start checking off items as you acquire them. Don't hesitate to ask a family member or a friend who has children for advice on what items they found most useful.
